Dorothy Schick, 95 of Waxahachie, passed away Friday, September 19, 2008 in Waxahachie. She was born on December 26, 1912 in Plano, Texas
Dorothy was a teacher at Northside Elementary in Waxahachie and retired serving over 25 years. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Waxahachie and enjoyed her church work. She loved volunteering at the hospital and and nursing homes and was a member of the Baylor Medical Center Hospital Auxiliary and the United Methodist Women's Auxiliary of Waxahachie. She enjoyed knitting, sewing and working cross word puzzles, but most of all she loved her family and spending time with them. She will be missed by so many who knew her and loved her.
She is survived by her son, Sonny Schick and his wife, Cyndi of Canyon Lake, Texas; her daughter, Susan Shirey and her husband, Jack of Mayhill, New Mexico; her beloved grandchildren, Jennifer Barfknecht and husband, Matt of Lewisville, Scott Shirey of Colorado; and her great grandson, Cody Barfknecht of Lewisville.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 50 years, LeMoine Schick.
Services to celebrate her life are scheduled for 10:00 a.m. Monday, September 22, 2008 at the Pat Boze Memorial Chapel of Wayne Boze Funeral Home with Rev. Jerry Galloway and Rev. Kevin Wilson officiating. Interment will follow at the Hillcrest Cemetery in Waxahachie.
Visitation for family and friends will be held from 4:00 to 5:00 p.m. Sunday, September 21, 2008 at Wayne Boze Funeral Home.
The family has requested that memorials be made to the First United Methodist Church, 501 West Marvin, Waxahachie, Texas 75165.
