Donna Jean (Dawson) McKinnon passed away peacefully at the age of 61 after a courageous fight against cancer on August 17, 2026. Born and raised in Waxahachie, TX, Donna grew up on the Dawson family farm. She graduated from Waxahachie High School with the Class of 1984 and earned her Associate degree from Navarro College, formerly Texas State Technical Institute, in 1987.

A woman of deep faith, Donna loved praise music and studying the Bible, and she was a devoted member of the Cowboy Church of Ellis County. She lived a life filled with joy, love for others, and an appreciation for God's creation of the land.

She is survived by her devoted husband, Britt McKinnon; her daughters, Claire Ann (Bull) Frazier and Kaycee Leigh Bull; her siblings, Connie (Dawson) Wammack, James “Jim Ed” Edward Dawson, and Melanie Ann Dawson; and many cherished grandchildren and extended family members. She was preceded in death by her parents, Edward Council Dawson and Ellis Jean Jolly McCurry, and her granddaughter, Ryleigh Jean Frazier.

A memorial service to celebrate Donna's life will be held at the Cowboy Church of Ellis County in Waxahachie on August 26th at 11:00 AM. Those attending are invited to join the celebration by wearing green.
