Chase Lane Smith (1985–2025)
Chase Lane Smith, 40, of Keller, Texas—originally from Waxahachie—was taken to glory unexpectedly early this week, leaving behind many who loved him dearly. Born on January 4, 1985, Chase brought a quick wit, kind heart, and loyal spirit to everyone who knew him. To know Chase was to love him.
A proud graduate of Waxahachie High School, Chase was a talented member of the golf team and earned the rank of Eagle Scout in 2002 from Boy Scouts of America—an achievement that reflected his perseverance, leadership, and character. Known as the ultimate handyman, Chase could fix just about anything and found joy in solving problems with his hands and heart. He spent time working in the construction industry, where his strong work ethic, sharp skills, and unwavering fairness quickly set him apart. In a field not always known for equity, Chase earned widespread respect for both his bidding expertise and the integrity he brought to every project.
The role Chase cherished most was being a father. His daughters, Addison and Bree, were the light of his life. Chase was also deeply devoted to his family, and he took special pride in being a big brother. He adored his younger brothers, Hudson and Kolton, and loved them fiercely.
Chase had an appetite for laughter and a sharp sense of humor that brought joy to all who knew him. He was a grill master and a true artist when it came to smoking meats.
Chase trusted people to a fault and would give the shirt off his back to help someone in need. His generosity wasn’t performative—it was instinctual. If you needed something, and Chase could help, he was already on his way. He never met a stranger, and anyone who met him couldn’t help but love him.
He is survived by his daughters, Addison Isabella Smith and Breelyn Marie Smith; his parents, Dee and Kathy Smith; his siblings, Hudson Smith-Bothun and husband Taylor, and Kolton Smith and wife Landry; and his grandmother, Betty Smith. He also leaves behind his loving aunts, uncles, cousins, and a wide circle of extended family and friends who will miss him deeply.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, May 6, 2025, from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., followed by a Celebration of Life at 1:00 p.m. at Firefly Gardens in Midlothian, with Rev. Donnie Smith officiating. A private family burial will take place afterward.
