Charles Franklin Proffitt
Charles Franklin Proffitt passed away peacefully November 25, 2021, at the age of 91. He was born December 26, 1929, in Midlothian, TX to Erbie Franklin Proffitt and Novaline Alsup Proffitt. He is survived by his sister Gayle McDonald and sister-in-law Carolyn Proffitt, niece Kimberly Fountain, her husband Blake and their two sons, Trey and Drew, niece Kelley Schadt, her husband Brian and their son, Max, as well as many dear cousins. He is preceded in death by his mother and father, his brother Van Proffitt and his nephew Michael Proffitt.
Charles graduated from Sunset High School in Dallas, TX in 1947, then went on to pursue a Bachelor of Arts degree at Southern Methodist University. He studied theater and enjoyed participating in several on-stage performances. After completing his classes, he would stay for hours rehearsing with classmates. Then, he would board a city bus to return home, stay up studying, and start all over again the next day. He worked various odd jobs to help pay for college, but it was his long bus rides that proved to be the end of his college career. After leaving college, he joined the army where he was active duty for two years in Kansas and participated in officer training.
Charles built a life full of wonderful memories with family and friends. He worked for the Welco Company for 25 years before retiring. He loved genealogy, old movies, and spending time with his lifelong church friends. He will be dearly missed by those he left behind.
