Charles Harwell

April 1, 1935 — June 20, 2019

Charles Harwell, 84, slipped from his earthly bonds to his heavenly home early Thursday morning, June 20, 2019.

He was born April 1, 1935, the son of Euna Harwell, brother of Hazel Harwell Dunn, and Jerry Harwell who all predeceased him.

He graduated from Waxahachie High School in 1952.  He was a life-time student of the Bible, an elder in his church and teacher of the Word. Charles was a realtor and developer.

He served two terms as Mayor of DeSoto and two terms on the Council.  He was a founder and two term President of the Mayors and Councilmen’s Organization of Dallas County (MACO).

He is survived by his wife of 41 years, Susie; children Lisa Harwell Stiles and husband Wayne Stiles of Arlington, Larry Harwell and wife, Annette Harwell of Lancaster, Lori Harwell Adams and husband Greg Adams of Arlington;  grandchildren Ashley Blackmon, Andrew Blackmon and wife Kacie, Travis Blackmon, Karissa Maxey, Gabrielle Richmond;   great grandchildren Gavin, Stella, Cullen, Angelina, Brayden, Braylynn and Kolsen.

In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Bristol Hospice in Waxahachie.
