Carolyn Johnson, age 71, of DeSoto, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family on Monday, June 21, 2021.
She was born in Dallas, Texas on November 22, 1949 to Clyde and Dorothy Fleeman of Red Oak, Texas.
She graduated from Red Oak High School, where she played basketball, was on the drill team and had many friends that loved and adored her, many of whom she stayed in touch with her entire life.
She had a beautiful singing voice. She played piano and sang in church on a regular basis growing up and often times, sang at friend’s and family’s weddings.
She married Larry Johnson on January 19, 1979.
Carolyn and Larry owned and operated a watch dial refinishing company for nearly 30 years, named Southern Dial, that they took over from her mother. Their company was considered the best in the business.
Carolyn had a passion for reading, cooking, bird watching, traveling and more importantly, her family. She was a believer in our Lord Jesus Christ and shared that faith with her children.
Carolyn and Larry loved to travel to The Great Smoky Mountains every year, staying in Gatlinburg, TN. She loved the beautiful mountains, peaceful streams and the occasional black bear siting. She also loved a good adventure and went white water rafting many times.
Holidays were always made very special for the family because Carolyn would go all out cooking and baking everyone’s favorite dishes and desserts. She was an EXCELLENT cook!
Carolyn was a devoted wife who loved Larry with all her heart. They were smitten with each other from the moment they met and that never changed. She was a loving mother, who was always there for her children to support them and guide them through life with compassion, understanding and lots of laughs.
Carolyn’s laugh was contagious and her smile lit up the room. She enjoyed being silly and playful with everyone, especially with her grandson, Jamie. He was the light of her life.
She was preceded in death by her father, Clyde. She is survived by her mother, Dorothy, her husband, Larry, daughters, Tracey and Jennifer, step-sons, Scot, Philip and Jeff and several grandchildren.
