Carol Ann
Vincell
July 28, 1948 – March 20, 2026
Carol Ann Vincell, age 77, of Waxahachie, Texas, passed away peacefully on March 20, 2026. She was born on July 28, 1948, in Waxahachie, Texas, to Betty Jo and George Alderson Shawver.
Carol was a proud graduate of South Oak Cliff High School, Class of 1966. She later continued her education in nursing school, earning her LVN certification and dedicating herself to caring for others. She went on to spend more than 30 years working for Freeman Decorating and was a member of Local Union 756, Painters and Allied Trades, where she built many lifelong friendships.
Carol married her husband, Roger Vincell, in 1988. Together they shared a love of adventure and friendship, often spending weekends white water rafting and camping with family and friends while exploring Texas and visiting national parks. They especially enjoyed long road trips together—sometimes traveling hours just for lunch—and she was always happy to make a stop at a casino along the way, even if it meant going a little out of the direction they planned.
She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who loved her family deeply. Carol made Christmas a magical time each year, decorating every corner of her home in red and green and continuing the treasured tradition of family photos on the staircase surrounded by Christmas bears.
In her younger years, Carol expressed her creativity in many ways. She sewed dresses for herself and her children—including those worn at her wedding—and once handcrafted California Raisin costumes for the entire family, who performed together to Marvin Gaye’s “I Heard It Through the Grapevine.” She also enjoyed making flower arrangements, wreaths, and arts and crafts, and even designed a portable “porta-potty” for her daughters during the family’s home-building days—just one example of her resourcefulness and care for her children.
Carol is survived by her loving husband, Roger Vincell; her children, Chris Bateman, Becky Bateman Moss, and Libby Bateman Ashton; her grandchildren, Brandi Von Hoffman and her husband Dalton, Tripp Moss and his wife Briklan, and Tanner Moss and his wife Cadence; and her great-grandchildren, Paizleigh and Bronx Von Hoffman. She is also lovingly remembered by her honorary grandchildren, Sydney, Harper, Mason, and Rylin Shawver.
She was preceded in death by her beloved parents, Betty Jo and George Alderson Shawver, and her brother, George Alderson Jr.
Carol will be remembered for her creativity, adventurous spirit, love of travel, and the joy she brought to family gatherings and holidays. Most of all, she will be remembered for the deep love she shared with her family and friends. ❤️
