Carl Blevins
Carl Blevins, a resident of Italy, Texas, passed away on June 8, 2026. Carl was born on March 18, 1953, in Dallas, Texas, to Burley Lee Blevins and Wanda Williams Rippey.
Carl was known and loved by everyone who met him. He never met a stranger and had a special way of making people smile. With funny remarks and a joyful personality, Carl could light up any room and leave people laughing long after the conversation ended.
Carl was often seen wearing a cowboy hat, some Dallas Cowboys swag, and a necklace he made. In addition to this, he would always wear a name tag and would greet visitors at the door where he lived at the Renaissance Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center in Italy, TX, for many years. He also worked and helped out at the nurses’ station. He certainly thought he ran the place!
He enjoyed making jewelry and singing and loved having lots of visitors, many who would bring him trinkets and treasures. One of those constant visitors was his brother in law, Darrel McBride, who worked at the Renaissance Center for many years.
He also enjoyed spending time with family and friends. Some of his happiest moments were spent celebrating holidays with family, especially at the home of Michael & David Rollins, Carl’s sister and brother in law. He loved visiting with family, hearing and telling stories, and enjoying plenty of good food, especially David’s mashed potatoes.
Carl’s kind heart and friendly spirit made him a familiar face to many throughout his community. He brought happiness to those around him simply by being himself, and his presence will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Burley Lee Blevins and Wanda Williams Rippey; brothers, Hugh “Bert” Blevins and Burl Blevins; sister, Donna Elrod; brother in law, Melton Lee Webb, Sr.; and brother in law, Darrel McBride.
Carl is survived by his sisters, Connie Webb of Athens, Mary Hamilton of Kaufman, Michael Rollins and husband David of Milford, and Darlene McBride of Abilene; his brother, Earl Blevins of Waxahachie; and many nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends who will forever cherish his memory.
Carl’s laughter, his singing, his sense of humor, his cowboy hat, his love of McDonald's cheeseburgers, and the love he shared with family and friends will not be forgotten. His memory will live on in the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to know and love him.
