Billy Hicks

Billy Ray Hicks, age 79, a longtime resident of Waxahachie, passed from this life into the loving arms of his Savior early Monday morning February 15th, 2021.

Billy was born on March 2nd, 1941 in the small town of Holland TX.  He graduated from Holland High School in 1959.  Before moving to Waxahachie in 1963 to begin his career at Owens Corning Fiberglas, he was employed with Ralph Wilson Plastics in Temple, TX.

During his high school days as a Holland Hornet, Billy was an outstanding basketball player. He was an All-District Halfback on the 1958 Championship football team, the only team in Holland High School history to go undefeated. He was also a member of the 1959 District Champs Track Team. His love for sports carried over into his adult years as Billy enjoyed playing golf and watching football, basketball, and golf on television.  He was an avid deer hunter and fisherman who enjoyed playing cards and dominos.  Billy was a member of First Baptist Church of Blooming Grove TX.

Billy was preceded in death by his mother Odell Bennight, his father Raymond Hicks, his stepmother Doris Hicks, infant twin sons, Richard and Russell, his loving wife of 43 years Glenda White Hicks, and his sister Linda and her husband Ronnie Allen of Guston Kentucky. Billy is survived by his son Bryan Hicks and wife Vera of Cedar Hill TX, daughter Melissa Rafay and husband Randy of Bartlett TX, stepdaughters Karen Evens of Frisco TX and Jill Howard of Waxahachie TX, brother Jimmy Hicks and wife Sharlyn of Paradise TX, brother Johnny Ray Hicks and his wife Danise of Holland TX, and Ms. Leslie Lemaster of Hurst TX with whom he shared many special moments during the last few years of his life. Also surviving Billy are 10 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren whom he dearly loved.
