Bill James Holloway, 81, passed away peacefully on the morning of September 11, 2025, at Midtowne Assisted Living and Memory Care in Midlothian, Texas.

Born July 29, 1944, in Miami, Florida, to Maude Florence Mackey and Bill Franklin Holloway, Bill grew up with a quiet strength that carried him through life. After high school, he answered the call to serve his country in the United States Navy. From 1961 to 1966, Bill proudly served aboard the USS Plymouth Rock as a Fire Control Technician, earning both the Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal and the National Defense Service Medal before receiving his honorable discharge. He carried the title of Navy veteran with quiet pride.

After his service, Bill worked as a real estate agent. He was a simple man, nontraditional in many ways, and he lived life on his own terms. Known for his eccentric style, Bill was rarely seen without his collection of watches, sometimes five at a time, with two on each wrist and another hanging off his neck.

Bill faced the challenges of dementia in his later years, but he was cared for faithfully by Karen Cox, his longtime power of attorney and friend, even after her retirement. Though he had no surviving family, his presence will be remembered by those who knew him at Midtowne and the Waxahachie Senior Community Center.

Bill will be laid to rest with honor at the Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery. Per his wishes, there will be no formal services.
