On Saturday, March 30, 2024 Betty Clark Wilson, loving mother and grandmother passed away at age 92.
Born in Graham, Texas, on July 16, 1931 to Thomas Earl and Annie Alice (Cox) Clark, Betty was one of fifteen children. She married Lonell Wilson in Graham, Texas, on September 1, 1950 and moved to Waxahachie, Texas in 1951, where they lived and raised three children, Sonny, Monica, and Randy.
Betty was active in the Waxahachie community. As a member of the Waxahachie Opti-Mrs Club, she served on the Youth Center Board, planning activities and chaperoning events for the youth of Ellis County. She also served on the Opti-Mrs Club Scholarship Board, Clothing Bank, and served as President. She was a sustaining member of the Waxahachie Junior Service League having volunteered her time with the Senior Citizen Center, the Texas Baptist Home for Children, and visiting and planning activities for Renfro Care Center.
As a member of Farley Street Baptist Church, Betty worked in the Nursery Department, taught in the Primary 3 Sunday School for 30 years, taught Vacation Bible School during the summers, and was a member of the Women’s Missionary Auxiliary. Most recently she was a long time member of the Ester Sunday School Class. After raising her children, she took a position with the Waxahachie Independent School District where she worked for eleven years as a secretary in the office at Marvin Elementary. She retired her position there to enjoy helping with her ten grandchildren and later her 18 great-grandchildren.
Betty was preceded in death by her husband, Lonell Wilson; her son-in-law, Richard Saunders; her parents, Thomas Earl and Annie (Cox) Clark; along with twelve brothers and sisters.
She is survived by her children; sons Sonny Wilson and wife, Debbie; Randy Wilson and wife, Becky; and one daughter, Monica Saunders, all of Waxahachie. Her grandchildren; Aaron Saunders and wife, Kelly; Lauren Chism and husband, Jeremy; Drew Wilson; Sarah Saunders; Chase Wilson and wife, Lauren; Haley Petrisor and husband, Dan; Annie Pevy and husband, Daniel; Kyle Wilson and his wife, Adrian; Danielle Chelette; and Whitney Wilson Bang and her husband, Jason. Great-grandchildren include; Allison and Peyton Saunders, Ashlyn, Graham, and Colt Chism, Marshal and Kenzie Wilson, Caleb, Elijah, Grace, and Hannah Petrisor, Lottie and Dax Pevy, Kash, Kade, and Wil Wilson, and Jensen Bang and Blair Bang. Her siblings; Lee Clark and wife, Joann; and Ida Weir and husband, Truitt.Her In-laws; Lila Wilson; Iris Wilson; Linda Strength and husband, James; Wanda Way, and numerous nieces and nephews.
