On July 23rd, Betty Kaye Hicks of Maypearl Texas passed away at the age of 76. She was born at Waxahachie Sanitarium to Ola and Y.J. Brigman on November 17th, 1949, just minutes before her twin sister Jaye. She was a proud lifelong resident of Maypearl. In 1968, Kaye married the love of her life, Kenny Hicks. Together they built a beautiful life centered around family. They were blessed with two sons, Kenny and Kevin.
Throughout her life, Kaye wore many hats. She was a beautician, served alongside her sister Jaye in the Maypearl school cafeteria and ended her career as a life coach for special needs individuals. No matter where she was or what she was doing, Betty Kaye had a gift for bringing laughter. She was the life of every party, known for her quick wit, playful spirit and ability to make anyone laugh.
Above all else, Kaye’s greatest joy was her grandchildren. They were the light of her life and she treasured every opportunity to spend time with them. Her door and her table were always open. If you stopped by, chances were good you were leaving with a full stomach.
She is survived by son Kenny Hicks and wife Shannon of Maypearl, son Kevin Hicks of Maypearl, and loved-like-a daughter Rachel Nieting of Mansfield. Grandchildren Brett Hicks and wife Ashley of Maypearl, Kristen Biggs and husband Brendan of Maypearl, Dusty Hicks and wife Heather of Waxahachie, Marlee Hicks of Mansfield, and Sami Hicks of Maypearl. Great grandchildren Brayden, Brenna, and Berkley Biggs of Maypearl.
She is preceded in death by her parents Ola and Y.J. Brigman, her husband Kenny Hicks, grandson Rusty Hicks, and brother Richard Brigman.
Visitation will be held at Wayne Boze Funeral Home in Waxahachie Tuesday July 28th from 4-6pm with the Celebration of life in the chapel immediately following visitation at 6pm.
