Bettie Ann Junkin was born on August 1, 1937, and on January 29, 2026, at the beautiful age of 88, she peacefully made her journey to Heaven from the comfort of her home, resting in her favorite chair.

Bettie was a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend—but to everyone who knew her, she was simply “Granny.” Born and raised in Lone Oak, Texas, she was the youngest of seven children born to James and Effie White. She graduated from Lone Oak High School in 1955.

In 1956, Bettie married the love of her life, Robert “Bob” Marshall Junkin Sr., and together they built a home filled with love, laughter, and open doors. They welcomed their first son, Robert Marshall Junkin Jr., and later a sweet baby daughter in 1967 whose time on earth was brief but never forgotten. In 1969, their world was forever changed with the birth of their 2nd daughter, Debra Ann. They both loved to tell the story of the first time Robby met his baby sister he was disappointed that she looked like a frog. Their lives were filled with many joyful stories.

Bettie’s home was the place where all the neighborhood kids gathered. She loved telling stories about how the house was never quiet—and how she wouldn’t have had it any other way. She enjoyed a long and successful career, working at MBI and later with other CPA firms, but her greatest joy was always her family.

As the years went by, that family continued to grow. Her son Robby married Linda Walker, and together they welcomed their son, Corey Junkin. Debra was blessed with her beautiful daughter, Jessica Junkin, and later completed her family when she married Stephen Meers.

In 2002, Bettie lost her beloved husband, Bob—known lovingly as “Grandad.” Though her heart was broken, she was surrounded by family who loved her deeply and carried her forward with them.

Bettie’s heart grew even fuller when Jessica married Travis Wade in 2012 and blessed her with her first great-grandchild, Kylie Ann, in 2014, followed by Annsley Nicole in 2019. Corey married his perfect match, Sarah Miller, in 2022, bringing even more love into her life.

Granny was happiest when she was with her family—working on puzzles, playing marbles, or simply sitting together and visiting. Those moments, small and ordinary, are now some of the most treasured memories.

A celebration of Bettie’s life will be held on Saturday, February 7, 2026, from 1:00–4:00 p.m at 220 Westward Ct., Waxahachie, TX 75167. This will be a come-and-go gathering where family and friends are invited to share stories, eat, drink, laugh, and celebrate Bettie in the way she would have wanted—surrounded by love.
