Bert Wayne Knight, 73, of Surfside Beach, Texas, passed away peacefully on March 31, 2026. He was born on January 18, 1953, in Dallas, Texas, to the late Maida Lee Knight and Bert Ether Knight.

Bert will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered for the joy he brought into the lives of so many. He had an infectious laugh, a quick wit, and a remarkable ability to make others feel seen, welcomed, and cared for. Whether sharing a joke, a story, or simply a moment of conversation, Bert had a way of turning strangers into friends and lifting the spirits of everyone around him.

He loved wholeheartedly—his family, his friends, and even those he had just met. Some of his happiest moments were spent playing board and card games with loved ones, traveling and exploring new places, and relaxing at his beach home with his beloved wife and dogs by his side. These simple joys, shared with others, meant the most to him.

Bert’s faith was an important part of his life. As a devoted Christian and faithful attendee of Hope Fellowship Church in Lake Jackson, Texas, he lived with kindness, generosity, and a deep sense of compassion for others.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Maida Lee Knight and Bert Ether Knight, his brother, D.L. Strickel, his sister Carlene Elliot, and his son, Aaron Knight.

He leaves behind a legacy of love in his devoted wife, Debra Knight; his son, Shawn Knight, and daughter-in-law, Jamie; his daughter, Jennifer Flachman, and son-in-law Mikell; his brother Walter Knight, and his cherished grandchildren, Christian, Jayden and his wife Megan, Ethan, Nathan, Lexi, Kyleigh, Abby, and Mollie.

Bert’s life was a gift to all who knew him, and his memory will continue to bring smiles, comfort, and love to those he leaves behind.

A Celebration of Bert’s Life will be held at Wayne Boze Funeral Home in Waxahachie, Texas, on April 8th at 10:30 a.m., officiated by Brian Bish. A lunch reception will follow at Jalapeños Lemon Pepper in Midlothian, Texas.
