Andrew Harris
June 7, 1995 - October 16, 2025
Andrew Wade Harris was born on June 7, 1995, and left this world too soon on October 16, 2025. He lived in Dallas, Texas, where he poured his heart into teaching art at Berdie Alexander Elementary. He taught kindergarten through fifth grade and loved his students like they were his own.
Andrew earned his bachelor’s degree at Sam Houston State University, because he never wanted to stop learning or growing. He had also attended Navarro. During his time at Sam Houston, he joined a fraternity, Phi Beta Sigma, that became like a second family to him, they kept him laughing and grounded through everything.
If you ever visited him in the morning, you knew about his morning “wake up concert,” his playlist that kicked off his day. “Return of the Mack” by Mark Morrison was always in rotation. He loved reading, hiking, painting, music, and especially cooking. He talked all the time about traveling the world someday just to learn how to cook foods from everywhere. Cooking was his love language, painting was his therapy, and music was his daily fuel.
Andrew created Elevate, a paint-and-sip class meant to help people feel good and express themselves through art. He was he wanted to lift people up, make them feel seen, make them smile. One story his family shared tells you everything about who he was. After his last paint-and-sip, he gave his own painting to someone who attended. No special reason, just because he felt like they should have it. That was Andrew, generous, warm, a little mysterious, but always full of heart. Folks describe him as chill, grounded, and happy.
He’s survived by his mother, Lisa Marie Hodge; mother and father, Tami and Louis Schmelzer; siblings, Alicia Harris, Jon Tre Boldon, Jon Trell Boldon, Lydia Harwood, Sara Cummings, Alex Schmelzer, and Emma Murphy; his grandmother, Darlene Allen; and a host of other siblings, cousins, aunts, and uncles who shared in his life along the way. His beloved fur baby, Bella, will miss him most of all.
He was preceded in death by his father, Anthony Harris, and his brother, Anton Harris.
Visitation will be held Friday, October 24, 2025, from 6:00pm to 8:00pm. Celebration of Life will follow on Saturday, October 25, 2025, at 11:00am, both at the funeral home.
Andrew’s life was a canvas, and every person he met added a color. He may be gone, but his light, his laughter, and his love for life are painted everywhere he’s been.
