Aleena Janelle
Borjas
June 9, 2001 – March 14, 2026
Aleena Janelle Borjas, known lovingly as "Leena," passed away on March 14, 2026, at the age of twenty-four. Born on June 9, 2001, in 29 Palms, California, Aleena grew to become a young woman of extraordinary warmth, kindness, and grace, touching the lives of everyone fortunate enough to know her.
Aleena was raised in a close and loving family, the cherished daughter of Pete and Monica Borjas and a devoted sister to Anaya. From an early age, she possessed a beautiful smile that could light up any room and a generous spirit that drew people to her naturally. Those who knew her remember her kind words, her thoughtful nature, and her remarkable ability to make others feel seen and valued. She was, above all things, loving, and that love defined every chapter of her life.
After graduating from high school, Aleena continued to build a life rooted in family and purpose. Among the proudest milestones of her life was the start of her relationship with her husband, Daniel "Dani" Ortega, before the birth of their son, Dominic "Dom" Ortega, who became the center of their world. Aleena embraced motherhood with her whole heart, devoting herself to raising Dominic with the same tenderness, patience, and joy that her own family had given her. She took great pride in making a home filled with love, laughter, and warmth, and she celebrated the everyday moments of life with Dani and Dom, whether they were exploring new activities together, hanging out with family, or simply enjoying each other's company.
Aleena had a gift for bringing people together. She loved spending time with family and friends, trying new restaurants and recipes, and filling her home with music and good conversation. She was a devoted wife, wonderful homemaker, a great sister, a loyal friend, and a daughter whose presence was a blessing to all who surrounded her.
In her community, Aleena was an active volunteer at The Avenue Church in Ennis, TX and participated in the church's Mother's Day Out program, where her caring nature and genuine kindness made a lasting impression on families and fellow volunteers alike. Her deep and abiding faith guided her daily life. She walked with the Lord in all that she did, and her spirituality was not something she merely professed but something she lived, pouring it into her relationships, her service, and her role as a wife and mother.
Aleena is survived by her beloved son, Dominic Gustavo Ortega; her parents, Pete Borjas and Monica Borjas; her sister, Anaya Borjas; her grandparents, Baldemar and Sandra Montelongo and Elsie Alvarado; and a wide circle of family and friends who loved her dearly. She was preceded in death by her grandfather, Agapito Borjas.
A message from her parents: “My Leena, we are forever grateful that God gave us the honor of having you, loving you and raising you. Your print on our hearts will forever remain. I wish you could see the impact your loving spirit continues to have on this world. It is so AMAZING! Thank you mija, for showing us the most excellent way. Your love will remain in every heart you have touched, now and forevermore.”
"And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love." (1 Corinthians 13:13, NIV)
