Albert Ervin Lawrence Jr., born November 8, 1971, passed away on July 10, 2026. From his military service to his municipal leadership, Albert's life reflected a consistent dedication to excellence and service.

Albert was born in Arlington, Texas, and was raised in Canton, Texas. He proudly served in the United States Army from 1991 to 1999, attaining the rank of Sergeant, and later continued his commitment to service as a civilian employee from 2011 to 2014 in Germany. During his time in the Army, he earned the Army Commendation Medal, the Army Achievement Medal, the Good Conduct Medal, among numerous other honors.

Albert went on to graduate from Texas A&M University with a Bachelor of Science in Bioenvironmental Science and later earned a Master of Public Administration from the University of North Texas. He was a Certified Public Manager through Texas State University and a Credentialed Manager through the International City/County Management Association. Throughout his career, Albert served with distinction in several Texas communities, including Bryan, Grand Prairie, Irving, Garland, Red Oak, and Waxahachie, where he served as Deputy City Manager. He was known as a respected leader, trusted colleague, and dedicated public servant. His military and civilian service reflected the values of discipline, leadership, integrity, and dedication that guided his life.

Albert was preceded in death by his parents, Nancy Adcock and Albert Ervin Lawrence Sr.; his son, Ryan; his sister, Milinda Swartwout; and three beloved dogs, Annie, Chili, and Maggie. He is survived by his devoted wife, Kim, and their two dogs, Riley and Rowdy; his mother-in-law, Wanda Ulmer; his sister-in-law, Kelly Hanson (Jason); his brother-in-law, Kevin Ulmer (Melissa Weathington); his sister and brother-in-law, Kelly and Chuck Rennspies; his nieces, Abbie Hanson and Ashley Rennspies; and his nephews, Andrew Rennspies and Ben Swartwout. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, colleagues, and all who knew and loved him.

For many years, Albert faced cancer with courage and quiet strength, never allowing it to define him or diminish his commitment to his family, his work, and the communities he served. He will be remembered not only for his professional accomplishments, but also for the kindness, humility, and integrity he brought to every interaction.

A visitation will be held on Wednesday, July 29, 2026, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Wayne Boze Funeral Home in Waxahachie, Texas. A funeral service will take place on Thursday, July 30, 2026, from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. at Wayne Boze Funeral Home in Waxahachie, Texas. A graveside service will follow at Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery from 1:15 to 1:45 p.m.
