John Errol McKeever passed away on November 2, 2019 at 87 years old.  He was born November 18, 1931 in Pineville, Louisiana.  When he was five years old, his family relocated to Beaumont, Texas.  In 1951, he moved to San Diego, California to serve in the Navy.  While in San Diego, he met Dorothy Delores Mathews and they were married in August of 1952.  During the Korean War, he spent seven months in Japan on the LST898 as the Radio Tech Specialist.

After leaving the Navy in 1955, John and Delores returned to Beaumont for John to start college.  He soon began his degree in Electrical Engineering at Lamar University.  After graduation, he began working at Sun Oil Company where he continued working for 30 years.  In 1988, he retired as the Chief Electrical Engineer.

John and Delores built their retirement home at Holly Lake Ranch in Hawkins, Texas.  They traveled, played cards on Tuesday nights, and John oversaw three building projects for Holly Brook Baptist Church.  After 23 years, his health challenges brought them to Red Oak to be close to his family.

Since high school, John has deeply loved his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.  In addition, he loved his family, hunting and fishing trips, golf, helping with the building projects at Holly Brook Church, reading maps, and talking about his children and grandchildren.

John was a loving husband to Delores for 67 years, a devoted father to his three children, and faithful grandfather and great-grandfather.  He is survived by his wife, Delores; son, Tommy McKeever and wife, Toby; daughter, Debbie Dooley and husband, David; and son, Kevin and wife, Lana; 13 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
